Frequently asked questions:

How do I set up an appointment for a tattoo with Anthony?

It all starts with a conversation. Let’s talk!

We sit down together for about 45 minutes, in person (preferred) or by phone.

I’ll ask you some questions about the idea.

We’ll get some clarity about the direction of the piece. Sometimes, we meet more than once.

You’ll place a non-refundable deposit with our receptionists to start a new project. They will schedule the appointments needed for the project

I will create a custom design that is tailor-made for you.

We will meet for a number of appointments until I finish working on the tattoo.

Booking is managed by Loose Screw Tattoo in Richmond, VA.

How far out is Anthony booked?

My schedule is booked out a few weeks to a few months on average.

Do I need to have my design figured out?

No. That’s my job. No one has ever come to me with a perfect idea.

Your job is to have a general idea. Keep it simple.

I’ll ask you about the theme, one or two pieces of subject matter, and where it’s gonna go.

Through conversation and the creative process, the design is brought to life.

Most people don’t know this, but your tattoo doesn’t need to mean anything. You have permission to decorate your body.

How much will it cost to get tattooed by Anthony?

My rate is $200/hour

Clients pay at the end of a session, based on how many hours we worked together.

For example, a four-hour session is priced at $800, a 6-hour session is priced at $1200, etc.

*This price includes a free 1Hr Touch up Session as long as it is scheduled within 6-12 months after the last session. Anything later than that will be subject to Anthony’s Hourly Rate.

When drawing directly on skin, the first hour is free, subsequent hours are rated at half my normal rate for tattooing.

Can I pay with a credit card?

Yes. The studio accepts cash or credit. Please note that there is a 3.5% Card Processing Fee applied at the POS terminal for credit cards and Apple Pay. If you bring cash, it will save you a little money and also keep that extra money out of the hands of the credit card companies.

You may not pay by check or cryptocurrency.

What is the deposit policy?

Deposits are paid after the Consultation as a commitment to moving forward on a project.

The deposit amount is typically $500 to $1200, depending on the scope of the design.

Deposits are non-refundable.

They are transferable, which means they can and will be transferred to future appointment dates.

Deposits are held by the studio until the completion of the project. Then, the deposit will be applied to your final payment amount.

Rescheduling an appointment date is fine. Just know that the fees will apply depending on how much notice is given.

The studio require 72 hours in order to reschedule or cancel your appointment and you may only reschedule twice, otherwise you forfeit your deposit.

  • If you NO CALL-NO SHOW, your deposit will be forfeited.

  • Failure to fulfill your appointment (if you need to leave unexpectedly before getting your tattoo or you change your mind, etc.) your deposit will be forfeited.

  • Applying Numbing Cream before your appointment without Anthony’s consent will result in your deposit being forfeited. Please read about numbing creams below.

  • Having a Sunburn on the area where your tattoo would go will result in your deposit being forfeited unless you are able to change the placement and proceed with the tattoo.

  • If you show up for your appointment under the influence, your deposit will be forfeited.

Once your deposit has been forfeited, you will need to make a new one in order to move forward and/or reschedule your appointment.

Will I see the design before I get tattooed?

During the consultation, I ask a lot of questions in order to understand what it is you want.

If a client wants to see the design, I am willing to share a rough draft with them. A rough draft is a work in progress that contains the essence of the final design without being fully worked out.

The most common challenge for a client is being able to visualize a design (even a final draft) on their body.

I design the composition to make sense on the body, not on paper. This is why it may not be helpful for you to see a design in advance.

I do not send final designs before tattoo day.

I do not ask you to trust me. You must trust my experience, perspective, and technical skill enough to move forward before placing a deposit.

Also know that I will never tattoo anything on you that you are not ok with.

Can I show my friend/family/significant other the design?

If anyone besides you is a decision-maker in your tattoo, I would encourage you to rethink what you are doing.

That said, if you value someone’s opinion, they should be there at the beginning, the consultation, NOT at the end, after conversations were had, decisions were made, and hours of design work already done.

Does Anthony use numbing cream?

No.

Do not apply numbing cream without consulting with me first.

Does Anthony offer touch-ups?

Yes. In fact, I always want to see work that is healed and make sure it is finished to its highest level.

A tattoo is fully healed at around 6 months. I offer a free (tip-only) touch-up session between 6 and 12 months.

After one year, touch-ups are subject to Anthony’s normal rate.

How long has Anthony been tattooing?

I started my apprenticeship in 2018. My professional career began in 2020.

What languages does Anthony speak?

I speak English.

I understand a lot of Italian, however I don’t speak it fluently.

I understand very basic Spanish, but I speak it poorly. Lo siento.
